Pretty good for a buffet breakfast on the Hawk's Cay grounds in Duck Key. Complimentary mimosa or champagne and coffee , oj brought out by the server. Grab a Big plate (yes not a tiny thing), and help yourself. There's a make your own waffle station with chocolate chips, whipped cream, syrup, jam etc on the right. Cereals, scrambled eggs, lots of crispy bacon, sausage, and a counter where chefs prepare omelets (plenty of toppings) or whole eggs for you. On the left fresh cut up fruit, and all the fruit was ripe and tasted delish, smoked salmon with capers, red onion, bagels, bread, crackers, cheeses, yogurt. And pastries which I didn't try but they had a watermelon drink and parfaits that were good. The coffee was not good. I believe the price is 20$/ per person for buffet.

Only our first night at Hawk's Cay on Duck Key and we have had the most amazing time. We ate at Ocean, one of the best meals I have had in a very long time (and I frequent a lot of eateries in South Florida) and my fiancé and I met Damien. Not only did he stop to talk to us and ask how our meal was, he later offered up a recommendation on wine and hooked us up with an amazing bottle and glasses. He was superb customer service at the very best and we couldn't have asked for more! At Ocean my fiancé had the seafood stew and I had the Mahi Mahi and they were both incredibly fresh and delectable. It was one of the most savory dishes we have had in a very long time. Service was absolutely incredible - our waiter Basil was so personable and the attentiveness was unmatchable.

Standard breakfast buffet. They have an omelette station, waffle station, sweets and fruits section. They also have oatmeal and pancakes tucked away in a tiny little corner. Unlimited mimosas and Bloody Mary's. I wasn't expecting much from a breakfast buffet but that waffle maker is golden. My waffles came out hot and crispy and they have various toppings to go on top (chocolate chips, strawberries, whip cream, nuts, etc.). Sneak in a couple of chocolate chips in the batter and have a chocolate chip waffle for dessert - the perfect ending to any breakfast buffet. Now if they could only add some nutella to their buffet....

For $32 per person for the buffet, I really expected more. The service was great, but the food was pretty average. Decent selection of seafood dishes and prime rib, so it's not a complete write-off, but it didn't really live up to the cost for me.

Came back again to Hawks Cay for business, but was actually more impressed than the last visit. Ocean Grill is honestly nothing out of this world. It is a resort buffet with decent options. I had 4 days of breakfast and the options never changed. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, Belgian waffles and then you have the stations (omelette, fruits, salmon, and sweet breads). Overall, food is fair and satisfies. Service was really good. Staff was amiable and attentive.

Clean and pretty ambiance but mediocre service and mediocre food. For the price I hoped for more but convenient if your staying on the resort

Our first night at Hawks Cay we had a late dinner at Ocean. The restaurant itself was closed but they were still serving the Ocean menu outside at the Beach Grill. I ordered the scallops, my children shared a caeser salad, and my husband the prime rib. The service was extremely slow as there was only one server but the food was exceptional. My scallops were cooked to perfection and didn't have the grainy texture you find in most. The lentils complemented them perfectly. My husband's prime rib was seasoned well and melted in the mouth. The Caesar salad wasn't anything to rave about as it was a bushel of lettuce leavese that were difficult to cut into bite size pieces. The price compared to the meal.... It was a little much. For those three meals and accompanying drinks, the bill was over $100 not including gratuity. But the price was to be expected at this resort. All in all , a pleasant experience.

Ocean is one of the several restaurants on the grounds of the Hawks Cay Resort. The buffet breakfast was very well done; lunch and dinner were more mediocre. For the latter, the food was American seafood, but with a slight trend toward mediterranean (achieved simply through the addition of olives, capers, feta, etc. to some dishes). But for an all-around restaurant to please every family member, you could do worse. The kids enjoyed the pizza and pasta. Sadly, one of the biggest problems were the birds on the patio outside. The seagulls were especially aggressive. Some crafty person strung fishing line across the openings, but it is spaced far too wide and gave the birds no trouble at all. It needs a re-think.

Waste of money. Came for breakfast, decided to order al carte (assuming that would be better than the buffet) .... Wrong... It just meant we had to wait 30 minutes for the same food that we could have made ourselves at the buffet. Oh and we ordered Belgian waffles (with Nutella and strawberries) ... They forgot the Nutella so they just brought us the jar! I'm sure the jar that a bunch of other people have stuck fingers in!

SOLID breakfast here at Ocean -- it's the restaurant on the Hawks Cay resort. I haven't eaten any other meal here besides breakfast, and the buffet and menu items were all pretty good. Cheap, which is a huge plus when away on vacation -- we paid $23 (gratuity included) on two full plates of filling breakfast food. Flavor was a bit bland, and nothing crazy to roll my wig back about!

Food is similar to a Holiday Inn with the addition of an unstaffed omelet station and some partially decomposed lox. I dont know if what i was served was coffee? If it was the flavor was undescribable, something between the smell of fresh asphalt and burned popcorn. A small selection of cheese was left out as a pathetic attempt to elevate powdered eggs and precooked bacon out of the pit of mediocrity. I'm paying for a condo and this still cost me $25.00. Try anywhere else, because ocean is all washed up.

We had low expectations because of the yelp reviews, but were impressed with both our dishes. The seafood tagliatelle was excellent. The diver scallops are also good. Service was nice nothing super fancy or awesome but definitely decent.

Great service & staff! Had dinner there last night and breakfast this morning. Great staff and service. Very personable, ended up having a nice long conversation with our waiter. Super friendly, amazing food!!!

Very very mediocre for the price. Ordered a la carte so I can't comment on buffet. I would give 2.5 if I could. Service is great at this resort, very accommodating. But the food was just average in all respects. FYI the corkage is $25, not bad for a resort

When they got you, they got you. There are only 2 restaurants on the resort and if you have kids, then really only one. Unless you want to drive at least 30 minutes in any direction, you have no place else to eat! The food is bland, the same or similar every lunch and dinner, and expensive. Be prepared to spend at least $100 for the buffet option for 4 people.

Good hotel experience marred by lackluster restaurants. Best bet is to order by the pool and stick with basics burgers and pizza. Surprisingly there was no fish sandwich on the menu?? Lots of fun for families but we will stick with tranquility bay from now on

Food was not good - conch fritter were burnt & hard has golf balls, fish tacos that were supposedly very popular were nothing I'd ever have again - would post no stars but can't get this included without star posting

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. We checked in last night (we were upgraded on the room so I can't complain there) but didn't make it down until 8pm (thanks Miami traffic). Our options were Alma or Ocean. We had a reservation for Alma for Saturday so we ate at ocean. The kids and I ordered ala carte and my husband ordered the dinner buffet. Paying $10 per kids meal regardless of the quality is RIDIC. It would be a bit easier to swallow if the food was any good. It was obvious the kids burgers were pre-done and finished off once they ordered them. The fries were "meh" and my chicken sandwhich was SO dry it was like chicken jerky. My husband said the dinner buffet was very "$4.99 Las Vegas Freemont street buffet" and since both of my 5 year olds said the burgers were making their stomach hurt (and because they looked gray I was nervous about them eating it) he let them each have a chicken finger off of his plate. They wouldn't eat that either. So for $100 (because the %18 gratuity is included) we got a glass of wine, a vodka, 2 kids meals, a grilled chicken sandwich and a dinner buffet. AND NONE OF IT WAS WORTH EATING. We had reservations at Alma tonight but cancelled them even though the reviews were better. I have no problem spending money for a meal (you expect it when you are at a resort) but it should be a meal I can eat. We just didn't want to take the chance on another bad meal. My suggestion? Either be a buffet and be REALLY good at it or be an off the menu place, you can't do both well out of the same kitchen. So as I am working to teach my kids, just because you can do something (like charge whatever you want for mediocre food) doesn't mean you should.

Grabbed lunch here. Conch fritters were great. Guacamole was blah & margherita pizza was just ok.

We stopped in for appetizers upon arrival, and we will NEVER return. Menu is boring and overpriced for what they offer. I don't mind paying for great food, but it had better be great. I ordered the smoked fish dip and promptly sent it back. Chips were STALE and fish dip looked and tasted like tuna with mayo and celery. My husband had the calamari, which was OK in comparison. Had high hopes for this place, especially given Hawks Cay's reputation. Someone needs to intervene soon or this place will close. It reminded me of a cafeteria on a cruise ship. We ate off site all weekend at fantastic local restaurants. This should not be the case for a resort.

Checked in late got a table within 15 minutes and outside as requested. Kenroy was awesome accommodating my no butter no gluten allergy. I ordered seafood stew which was perfect as they were out of oysters for the night, but promised me they were being delivered next day! Parents got margarita pizza & shrimp cocktail. Crust was like a pita and light. Shrimps were small in my opinion & priced high. Good vino list!

Pretty solid food. The buffet was actually really great and adds nice variety since it changes every night. We've gone several times now and it's been pretty consistent. The wait staff is funny and our server basil was great. He even danced for us! What a guy. One star off because it gets too loud inside.

Captive audience for sure. All I wanted was an omelet. No such luck. Because buffet takes priority it meant it would take 30+ minutes to get one which forces you to do the buffet. The continental or the full. 18 dollars per person for the full - no thanks. The problem is the continental table gets decimated by people who pay for the full leaving people who want just a bagel and fruit to fight and hunt. Also boxes of cereal but no cereal bowls out. In short, leave the resort for a better experience if not cheaper.

Awful food & service. Looks upscale & fancy but the food quality is very poor & I dont mind paying for food if its worth it. My chicken sandwich was tasteless, the kids meals at $10 is Mcdonald style food & made my nephew sick to his stomach. The service could be better as they got 2 of our orders wrong & then took forever to bring out the right order. If its not because the resort is beautiful & the location of restaurant has great views would say dont bother coming. If u do eat here just stick with drinks & appetizer but not worth the exorbitant price & gratuity is added at 18% so the waiters have no real incentive to try better. This place could do so much better just seems like poor management.

We're staying at the resort and decided to take a chance on the new offering. Airy and well lighted space. Decent menu and some reasonable wine values by the glass. Some competent dishes. The curried squash soup special was quite good, as was the proscuitto pizetta. Other dishes were just fair. The pasta Bolognese was an enourmous bowl of spaghetti that was overcooked with a an uninspired meat sauce that look more like crumbled meatloaf than a "real" Bolognese sauce. The biggest problem was the service. From the time we were seated by the host until we paid the bill, everything was just slighly off. Our waitress was reasonably attentive, but the pacing was inconsistent. Drinks arrived quickly, as did appetizers. After that, the main course took a long time to arrive (nothing complicated), and it then took forever for the waitress to realize we were done. We wanted to order desert, and coffeee, but it took a good 20 minutes to get the main course cleared and desert orders in. For a place that charges big city prices for entrees (averaging around $28 or so), the service was distinctly sub-par. One of the challenges is that they have a ton of families with small children, so I have to cut them some slack. Otherwise, I think the score might have been closer to a 2.

Prosciutto Pizzetta is so yum and dining in the outside area is so cool. Fire pit is just next to the patio and there is always live music playing there at night.
